Grand Media Log: Day 48

A Lesson in Love

Written and Directed by Ingmar Bergman

Film

Probably my least favorite of his excluding his first two, more marriage/affairs/relationship stuff but not particularly interestingly done in comparison to the others. Was a great sequence filmed over a river though. Probably gonna take a break from Bergman before doing the next one in the set, the lengthy “Scenes from a Marriage” funnily enough.

Equal Rites

Terry Pratchett

Novel

I don’t have much to say about most of these discworld books other than that they’re good light reads that have true imagination and humanity at their heart. idk man what do you want from me.

Monster: Perfect Edition Volume 2

Naoki Urasawa

Comic

Continues tthe upwards trajectory, with only a minor stumble at the end of this one, that this manga has had after the first ~4 chapters. I really shouldn’t force myself to talk about every one of these volumes so I’m not gonna do tht unless I have something to say about itt

Princess Mononoke

Written and Directed by Hayao Miyazaki

Film

You’ll be shocked and appalled to hear that this ruled. Sensing parts of the Nausicaa manga that weren’t in the, much inferior, film were taken as influences although this is probably on the whole more optimisttic if not hopeful than that. Wasn’t expecting so much vaguely historical references to countries and such but that was cool. I really need to get back to writing more like I did when I started this.

My brain hurts.
