Grand Media Log: Day 42
Pride and Prejudice (DNF)
Jane Austen
Novel
I am sorry, but the combination of the writing style and the subject matter both failed to grip me on any level. By subject matter I don’t just mean romance – I fell off before that could even be a factor – but the parties, and balls, and all that shit just provides me nothing. The Leopard unfortuantely also devolved into that. Probably will give this or something else a look at some point in the future to test the waters, but not holding my breath.
The Game
Directed by David Fincher, Written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris
Film
Exceptionally stylish winding pyschological thriller. Every one of those words is up my alley, and it was a great time. The only thing “wrong” with it is the rather underwhelming conclusion, but at least the sentiment is nice. Funny to say that this is probably my least favorite Fincher yet and it was still a banger and a half.
Shadowrun Hong Kong
Harebrained Schemes
Video Game
Finally wrapping up Shadowrun crpg trilogy with another solid entry. I always appreciate the special twists on the cyberpunk genre that is explored within this setting, and in several ways this title probably does that the best, yet it doesn’t reach the level of Dragonfall in terms of overall quality. Narratively it is stronger than the first entry but nowhere near Dragonfall which suprised me, but the gameplay is probably the best its been as expected from the capstone of a trilogy. Might come back and do the expansion campaign but it’ll be a while because I’m not feeling it atm. Great stuff.
Had a surprising number of technical problems considering I’ve never had any with this series before.
