This disjointed yet compellingly drawn love letter to the work of Junji Ito has its ups and downs but stays engaging through some very strong recurring visual motifs and designs. The pig designs will certainly stick with me. I wouldn’t consider it on the level of any but the most low tier Ito, but it’s probably worth a look.
The quote on the back gestures towards commentary that I can’t really find, on consumerism and the “wellness”(their emphasis) industry feels more of a setting kind of thing than an integral aspect of it. There is an sort of ennui towards corporate structures that is definitely prevelant which you know I enjoy.

I love Dog Day Afternoon(1973), and this reminded me enough of that – while in all honesty not being that similar – that I liked this more than most people probably will. The cast is stacked, with my beloved private investigator from Blood Simple(1983) appearing as a bartender, and more people I won’t go into too. Directing is surprisingly interesting and kept me on my toes where the dialogue and narrative didn’t. idk what you want from me I love movies where crimes go wrong and they have to deal with that.
I’m starting “The Nazis, Capitalism, and the Working Class” by Donny Gluckstein tonight. I’m so cool. I meant to do some gamming but ended up just coding and ended up back on the corner dilemma so expect me to lose my mind soon!
‘Til morrow my broomfies and people who actually read these because lord knows I wouldn’t.
