Grand Media Log: Day 28

Constellation(DNF)

Adrian Bosc

Novel

A strange novel, being based on a 1949 airplane crash(?) that had an odd amount of high profile people, filling in their backstories with a combination of history and speculation. However the prose sytle was too flowery for me and I don’t really have much of the context of the actual events to get anything else out of it. Might return to it someday, as I own it via library sale thingy.

Summer Interlude

Directed by Ingmar Bergman, Written by Ingmar Bergman and

Film

In many ways can be seen to be another attempt at telling his previous film, To Joy which I loved, from another perspective. However due to waking up very tired I cannot say that I got the proper experience with this film, and am definitely looking forward to revisiting it in the future, possibly sooner than would usually be done. I might be influenced by Eyebrow Cinema in that opinion though. This was good despite my drooping eyelids.

The Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures(DNF)

Dave Stevens

Comic Compilation(?)

A tribute in many ways to golden age cartoons and their storytelling, that only goes to show why we moved away from that style.

Eyes Wide Shut

Directed by Stanley Kubrick, Written by Stanley Kubrick, Frederic Raphael, and Arthur Schnitzler

Film

Oddly humourous with some potentially interesting perspectives on intimacy and sexual desire that I am too ace to understand or frankly care about. With that being said, there is a lot of good in this even outside of that, Kubrick brings his eye for visuals and there are many sequences that will stick with me. There’s probably more that could be said but I quite enjoyed the sound mixing and chanting if not the raw music. Idk man what do you want from me.

Funnily enough it is not the movie I’ve seen this year with the most nudity in it, but the one with most sex by a mile.

Started MIND MGMT which rules thus far and The Investigation by the master himself Lem which is a treat.
