I’m a big Mike Flannagan fan, thus far having watched all his non-midnight club shows(which has no real interest to me), but having yet to delve into his slim filmography. This in a way feels almost prototypical for Haunting of Hill House in a lot of ways, but told in a flashier way with less to say. Couple truly uncomfortable moments which is rare for me in horror films, but after the hype I heard from somewhere on this I am left slightly disappointed, but found it good overall. Was nice to see Karen Gillan in a non-doctor who, non-mcu role. Words words words.

Comic one offs, except for Conqueror Worm which was a Mini-series

Stellar art with interesting mythology. Somehow missed the fact that this is considered a horror series, and I just don’t see it at all? Like sometimes I say that about things, say Se7en, where technically there is an argument to be made but even saying this is horror themed would be a stretch honestly. Good stuff. I’d say “Being Human” is my favorite of this batch. I really like the character of Hellboy himself, and his associated misfits, and while the overarching story is interesting the arc to arc stuff isn’t up to the quality of the other stuff. Idk man hellboy is a cool guy. Might have to read the other BRPD stuff.

I also picked a dumb order to read the stuff in, doing the main four omnibi followed by the short story collections, because I’m an absolute rube.

I loved the art but it was too slow and plodding for me. Not going on my spreadsheet

Reading more of The Book Thief and it’s really good, as everyone points out it has a very distinct voice from everything else I’ve read.l
